SEO RFP Template: How to Hire the Best SEO Agency

Choosing an SEO agency without a structured RFP process is one of the most common and costly medspa marketing mistakes. The SEO industry has a significant number of agencies selling generic services to clients who don’t know enough to evaluate whether what’s being proposed will actually work. A well-written RFP filters out inexperienced and inappropriate agencies before you waste time on sales conversations and before you commit budget to a program that won’t deliver results.
The most important qualification requirement for a medspa SEO RFP is demonstrated experience with medical aesthetics or healthcare SEO. Ask prospective agencies to provide: current medspa or aesthetic clinic clients they’re managing SEO for (with permission to contact for references), before/after ranking data for medspa clients (specific keywords and the ranking positions at contract start vs. current), their approach to HIPAA-compliant content creation, and their understanding of the FTC and state medical board restrictions that apply to before/after imagery in digital content.
The scope of work section should require agencies to specify exactly what they will deliver monthly — not a list of services but specific deliverables: X new pages of content per month, X citations built per month, X backlinks targeted per quarter, monthly ranking reports for agreed keyword sets, and quarterly strategy reviews. Agencies that respond with activity metrics (“we’ll post X blog articles”) rather than outcome commitments (“we’ll target these specific keyword clusters with this specific content strategy”) are focused on their process, not your results.
