Custom medspa website development — as opposed to template-based builds — involves more significant investment and more complex vendor evaluation. A custom development RFP must communicate not just what the site should look like, but how it should perform technically, what it needs to integrate with, how it should be maintained, and what performance benchmarks define success.
The technical requirements section is where custom website development RFPs most commonly fall short. Key technical specifications that every medspa custom development RFP should include: CMS selection rationale and requirements (WordPress, Webflow, custom CMS — each has different maintenance implications and developer dependency profiles), hosting requirements (managed hosting, CDN configuration, uptime SLA), page speed performance targets (Core Web Vitals scores, target load times on 4G mobile), security requirements (SSL, HIPAA-compliant contact form data handling, security update protocols), and accessibility requirements (ADA/WCAG compliance level).
Integration requirements are particularly complex for medspas with established technology stacks. The RFP should specify every integration needed at launch: booking platform (Zenoti, Boulevard, Mindbody), CRM (GoHighLevel, HubSpot, or practice-specific CRM), analytics (GA4, call tracking), email marketing platform, chat widget, and any patient portal or intake form systems. Each integration should be evaluated for technical feasibility and ongoing maintenance responsibility.
Ownership and access terms deserve explicit RFP treatment — and are frequently mismanaged in web development contracts. Your RFP should require all code deliverables to be client-owned, staged in a client-controlled repository, and documented sufficiently for any competent developer to maintain. DNS, hosting, and CMS credentials should transfer to client ownership at launch. This template covers all technical, creative, integration, and contractual elements of a custom medspa website development RFP.
